Keisaku-en, known as a pure Japanese-style garden, was created by the Sumitomo Family over approximately 10 years when they moved from Kyoto to this place along with their main house (Chausuyama Residence).
The design and construction of this garden were entrusted to the renowned gardener of the time, Ogawa Haruhei, also known as “Shokuji”. Haruhei had been active mainly in Kyoto since working on Muren-an for Arata Iso, leaving a significant mark on Japan’s modern garden history. Many of his works are designated as national treasures or famous sights in Kyoto. After the Sumitomo Family’s main residence relocated to Kobe in 1925 (Taisho 14), the former main residence site adjacent to Keisaku-en (now Osaka City Museum) was donated to Osaka City along with the Chausuyama Residence. After about a century, a 25-story tower with 179 units was born in the Sumitomo Family’s ancestral land by Sumitomo Real Estate. “City Tower Tennoji” located in the forefront of the city and nature of Tennoji. It has been about 10 years since the property within a 5-minute walk from Osaka Metro Midosuji Line Tennoji Station was offered.
